About Sahra Halgan
Sahra Halgan is an iconic artist from Somaliland, a region in the Horn of Africa that declared independence in 1991 but remains unrecognized internationally. In the 1980s, during the conflict against Somali dictator Siad Barré, she earned the nickname "Halgan" (the fighter) for her inspiring songs and efforts as an improvised nurse. Forced into exile by the war, she was granted political asylum in France, where she spent 20 years away from music, integrating and raising a family. Her legacy remains rooted in her powerful contributions during the struggle.
