Independent Venue Week is almost upon us! Taking place from Monday 29th January to Sunday 4th February 2024, the seven-day celebration recognises the vital importance of independent art and music spaces plus the people whose hard work provides so much to their local community and beyond.

Norwegian Church
A Tiger Bay attraction for over a century
First built in 1868, Norwegian Church is a landmark feature in the capital city and was originally a communal hub for the Norwegian sailors seeking refuge and fraternity. It has since undergone a massive refurbishment to become an arts centre and café.
The Cardiff hotspot sees IVW events featuring Spencer Segelov & Great Paintings (Saturday 27th January), Lauford Cripps (Thursday 1st February) and Tom Auton (Saturday 3rd February).
The Rockin’ Chair
Rockin’ out in Wrexham
Popular Wrexham gig destination The Rockin’ Chair was formally known as Central Station. It has seen such greats as Robert Plant, Biffy Clyro, Kasabian, Pendulum, Chase & Status, and Grandmaster Flash all grace their stage.
Spoken word and hip-hop artist Antony Szmierek will be making an unmissable headline appearance on Friday 2nd February.
CWRW
Top drinks, great music, and good vibes
CWRW (Welsh for “beer”) is the award winning Grassroot Music Pub Venue found in Carmarthen. Renowned as a great place to catch fledgling acts destined for great things, previous Independent Venue Week ambassadors Adwaith started their career on the stage at CWRW.
Their special #IVW24 show takes place on Saturday 3rd February and sees performances from songwriter Mali Hâf, I am Ian and Molly.
The Gate Arts Centre
Discover creativity in Roath
The Gate Arts Centre is the converted Plasnewydd Presbyterian Church found in the heart of Roath. The Grade 2 listed building is a magnificent space to enjoy the arts, with two exhibition galleries plus a performance area.
