ALBUMS

OWEN – ‘The Avalanche

Chicago born multi-instrumentalist Mike Kinsella has worked under many guises, famed for his early rise with Cap’n Jazz and his widely loved band American Football. He is currently succeeding in getting the world’s attention with his latest band Owen and this week drops his brand-new album ‘The Avalanche’.

Heartbreakingly beautiful, Kinsella has skillfully crafted nine introspective and deeply personal songs which contain enough wry humour and clever word play to stop the record ever becoming too po faced. It particularly focuses on his experiences as a musician, how his length career has never quite broken through into the mainstream and how it effects the relationships throughout his life.

"My whole existence, for now, has just been a bunch of transitions, like being a part-time musician and a full-time dad, there are constant transitions back and forth. Some of it I'm getting used to and sometimes I just have to accept it's going to be a transition day, like the first and last day of tour and the first and last day of being at home."

Owen tickets are currently available.

BRAIDS – ‘Shadow Offering

The recent past of indie rockers Braids has been a tumultuous one. Their previous album ‘Deep In The Iris’ saw them win the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year, however infighting led to the departure of their keyboardist who claimed she was being side lined from the creative process and wanted to engage the band with political issues. Following a meeting with their former member which included attendance to anti-oppression workshops, the trio have created new album ‘Shadow Offering’ in their Montreal studio which directly addresses some of the issues preventing achieving true equality.

I am grateful that she brought this to our attention and to the public’s attention. These conversations are absolutely essential in understanding, confronting and eventually abolishing the forms of oppression and racism that exist unknowingly and knowingly within our relationships and institutions.” – Raphaelle Standell-Preston

Make sure you don’t miss Braids when they show off their new material, playing The Cookie at Leicester and essential London venue Moth Club in November – tickets on sale with Gigantic right now!

Braids tickets are currently available.

BLACK EYED PEAS – ‘Translation

will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo are back with brand-new Black Eyed Peas album ‘Translation’ – and it’s a sure fire hit! Already hailed by critics as one of their best ever records, we expect it will be Number 1 around the glob this time next week.

We’re on a journey to translate and spread innovative rhythms around the world, and we’re bringing our familia along for the ride.

As you’d expect from one of the world’s biggest bands, there’s a huge roster of A-List contributors including guest appearances from Shakira, J Balvin, Ozuna, French Montana, Becky G, Maluma, Nicky Jam, J Rey Soul and Tyga.

Translation is empathy, understanding, collaboration. To translate from one culture, and one language into something somebody else can understand, it takes patience, it takes tolerance, it takes educating. Translation is the bridge. And Black Eyed Peas, we bridge the gap, from this culture to that culture. We were the bridge between electronic music and pop. We were the bridge between what was going on in America to the rest of the world with “Where Is The Love?” Now we’re bridging what’s happening in the Latin community to the rest of the world.” – will.i.am

Black Eyed Peas tickets are currently available.
