LA ROUX – ‘International Woman Of Leisure’
It’s been a few years since we’ve heard from high pitched synth pop sensation La Roux (AKA Elly Jackson). The Grammy Award winning popstar shot to worldwide in 2009 with such massive smash hit singles as ‘Bulletproof’ and ‘In For The Kill’ which brought both huge commercial success plus underground acclaim with some killer club remixes. Now she’s back with her brand new single ‘International Woman Of Leisure’ which rejoices in Elly’s newfound sense of liberty:
“I feel happier than I’ve ever felt. This sounds really ridiculous, but you know when you’re six or seven, and you’re happy? I feel like that. Totally free in my mind, free in myself.”

ASH – ‘Jack Names The Planets’ (Remaster)
Ash return to where it all began with a newly remastered version of their early hit single ‘Jack Names The Planets’. Originally released at the start of 1994 and recorded on a budget of just £300; the fast-paced blend of grunge and pop punk would be the song that first really hinted at their true potential and saw the teens soon bursting through to become one of the definite sounds of the 90’s.
This re-working of their early fan favourite is accompanied with a new video which is a kaleidoscopic tour video showing snapshots of the band’s thrilling highlights so far and will feature on their newly announced compilation; ‘Best Of Teenage Wildlife: 25 Years of Ash’.
Released on limited edition lenticular or standard versions on 2LP and 3CD, ‘Best Of Teenage Wildlife: 25 Years of Ash’ is a celebration of the music which defined a generation and continues to reach new audiences. It takes its name from the documentary which saw the boys from Downpatrick grow from playing to their schoolmates to becoming achieving international fame and includes such classic hits as breakthrough single ‘Girl From Mars’, Ivor Novello-winning ‘Shining Light’, rock anthem ‘Burn Baby Burn’ – plus explores their more recent catalogue with such incredible singles as ‘Orpheus’, ‘True Love 1980’ and ‘Confessions In The Pool’. VEGYN – ‘Only Diamonds Cut Diamonds’
Those in the know have been getting really excited about London based producer Joe Thornalley now better known as VEGYN. Breaking from the norm and always fearlessly going leftfield with unabashed experimentation, he has already worked with the lies of Frank Ocean and Travis Scott; and now he releases debut album ‘Only Diamonds Cut Diamonds’ on independent label Plz Make It Ruins.
Sixteen highly innovative tracks showing off his wide sphere of influences including 90’s hip hop, trip hop and blurred electronica;
“I was smoking a lot of weed at the time, and I started experimenting again, trying to make things with the mindset of ‘Okay, this isn’t a song for somebody else, this is something that I want to listen to. I was spending a lot of time in the States. I wanted to move to LA and I really wanted to be a producer. The music I was making was – not stagnant, but I was making music with the intention of it being for somebody else, and this record was like making music for me again.”

RACHAEL DADD – ‘FLUX’
Multi-instrumentalist Rachael Dadd is amongst the most interesting contemporary folk musicians Britain currently has to offer. Today, the Bristolian songwriter drops her brand-new album ‘FLUX’ through Memphis Industries which connects her English roots with her travels in Japan and blurs the line between traditions.
Produced with Marcus Hamblett (Villagers / Laura Marling) and recorded with the assistance of a fantastic crew of collaborators, including Rozi Plain, drummer Rob Pemberton (Emily Barker / Low Chimes), multi-instrumentalist Emma Gatrill (Willie Mason / Matthew and the Atlas), bassist and vocalists Kate Stables (This Is The Kit) and bassist Jim Barr (Portishead).
‘FLUX’ includes the powerful song ‘Cut My Roots’ which addresses the rises of the Far Right and white supremacy; “I wanted to speak up for our collective liberties. When it came to making the music video I used the context of our oppressive past which, although is no longer in living memory, still echoes all around us today. It is important that each one of us keeps an eye on our collective liberties.”

LOW ROAR – ‘ross.’
Low Roar is the atmospheric work of songwriter Ryan Karazija whose melancholic take on indie rock makes for compulsive listening. Now, the Californian musician drops his earthy LP ‘ross.’ which is ten tracks which really show off his innovation and mastery of arrangements. Low Road performs at St. Pancras Old Church in London on Friday 22nd of November.
