Moss Kena – ‘Silhouette

In the past 24 hours, the bright new hope for British music Moss Kena released his silky new single ‘Silhouette’. The 20-year-old has been attracting praise for all quarters for his soulful melodies interwoven with laidback beats, making the perfect backdrop for his expressive and almost genderless vocals.

Veering somewhere between hip hop and alt pop, ‘Silhouette’ details the experience of moving past an all-consuming relationship and is promoted with a video rivalling an arthouse movie, directed by Ruby & Boya who Kena has worked with previously with for his track ‘Problems’.

Kena expands on the themes of ‘Silhouette’; “’Silhouette’ is about breaking out of an intense relationship. Stepping out into the light of new possibilities and casting a shadow over the past. Ruby & Boya who I have worked with before really captured the sentiment and spirit of the song in the video which is always a hard thing to do.”

Silhouette’ is taken from Moss Kena’s forthcoming five track EP ‘One + One’ which is released on November 23rd via RCA Records/Ministry of Sound/Cult Club Records.

Moss Kena tickets are currently available.

Slipknot – ‘All Out Life

They’re back! Ground-breaking nu-metal band Slipknot make their long-awaited return with their single ‘All Out Life’. Taking a long hard look at the world that surrounds them, the obsession with facile celebrity, greedily accepting mediocrity and the desperation to be identified as the latest trend, they spit back at the world; “Throw away all the meaningless shit that's clinging”.

All Out Life’ will feature on the shock metallers next album which singer Corey Taylor promises fans to be “’Iowa’ levels of heavy”, further adding “At a time when most bands are slowing down, I think we’ve written our heaviest song – one of them anyway – on this new album. It’s going to be fucking crazy. People are going to shit their pants when they hear it.”

While we look forward to hearing previously unheard levels of brutality, you can look forward to seeing Slipknot perform their Saturday headline set on The Lemmy Stage at Download Festival 2019 next summer.

Slipknot tickets are currently available.

Albums

Yung Lean – ‘Poison Ivy

Yung Lean (AKA Jonatan Leandoer Håstad) is amongst the first Swedish rappers to break into the international level, finding fans all around the globe. Ever since the release of his ‘Unknown Death 2002’ mixtape released five years ago his rise has been meteoric despite his battles with substance addiction, releasing three albums whilst also finding the time to somehow model, design his very own fashion line and work as a creative artist.

This month sees the release of his third mixtape ‘Poison Ivy’. Pouring all his experiences into his music and sharing his very distinctively individual vision, Håstad creates evocative yet nightmarish hip hop images of being caught between two worlds, at once full of creative potential and yet limited by the horrors of anxiety and destructive compulsions.

Make sure you catch Yung Lean for his Wings Of Desire; a night of live music combined with art exhibitions, special guest performances, pop up shop and many more surprises. This very unique event takes place at O2 Academy Brixton in London on Wednesday 21st of November.

Yung Lean tickets are currently available.

audiobooks – ‘Now! (in a minute)

Having formed after a chance meeting at a party, producer/mixer/engineer David Wrench and art student Evangeline Ling wasted no time in creating music for their new project; audiobooks. Wrench had only just relocated to London and was quickly struck by the endearingly eccentric scraps of short stories Ling had been tapping into her phone. Within days, the pair had taken the fragments of fiction and constructed what would become the first track of their debut album; ‘Mother Hen’.

We wrote and recorded this on the 2nd day we hung out. Evangeline was so excited to do more work that she travelled across London in her Batman pyjamas so as not to waste any time.” - David Wrench

Spurred on by the creative impetus, the pair carried on their experimental studio sessions and created their stream of conscious lo-fi pop at breakneck speed, developing their friendship as the songs began to take form.

“I hadn’t slept all night, I’d just had this crazy adrenaline. I knew we were doing something really special and I couldn’t wait to get there. I didn’t have any clean clothes, so I just thought, ‘Sod this, I’ve got to go’.” - Evangeline Ling

Today sees the release of the culmination of this wild fit of relentless imagination; their debut album ‘Now! (in a minute)’ which they plan to take out on the road in March.

audiobooks tickets are currently available.
