BLOOD RED SHOESØ

Perfect indie rock pairing Blood Red Shoes are back! Two years on since the release of their lauded fifth album Get Tragic, singer/guitarist Laura-Mary Carter and drummer Steven Ansell return with remarkable six track EP titled Ø, an intoxicating mix of intense anthems and brooding bangers, taking its name from; “the symbol on audio equipment to invert the signal. The flip switch. When you push the Ø button, positive becomes negative and negative becomes positive. Which feels very us. And it also makes it quite difficult for people to know how to say the name. Which is also very, very....us."

Included are singles “A Little Love” which is the duo at their dynamic best, swapping vocal duties and hammering out a real crowd-pleasing stomper, and “Misery Loves Company” that is a two fingers up to anyone that ever-chatted shit online about them, as the band explains; “You talk in big old words but you got nothing to say”. A friendly little STFU to the armchair warriors. Those with the overactive thumbs. The ones who tell anyone and everyone that they’re doing it wrong, but never get up and do anything to help. Boring."

The new year sees Blood Red Shoes hit the road once again, kicking off January 2022 with a tour – and we cannot wait to see them back on stage blazing with passion once again!

ALBUMS

ROBYN SHERWELLUnfold

Following on from her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, idiosyncratic London alt pop songwriter Robyn Sherwell returns with stunning second record Unfold.       Bravely bearing her soul on each song, her new release is a proclamation of independence – using her truth to set her free.

Unfold is a culmination of deeply personal experiences unfolded into a new confessional masterpiece which will undoubtedly see Sherwell once again garnished with praise from all quarters. Produced by David Kosten (Bat For Lashes, Everything Everything), Sherwell recruited a small team of trusted collaborators into her home to ensure she truly captured her own essence to be passed on through the music; “to be writing at home and self-producing is so empowering. It feels like a return to when I was first exploring music and my artistry, just writing heartfelt songs and making demos in my bedroom, with no one else involved.”

See Robyn Sherwell play as an intimate headline set at Paper Dress Vintage in London on Tuesday 14th of September.

SURFACESPacifico

Feel good Texan college radio favourite Surfaces are back with their fourth record Pacifico – their latest genre-blending LP which embraces a wide range of influences including ambient electronica, hip hop and, of course, surf pop.

Self-recorded in their own home studio in Malibu, the sixteen new songs are the true sound they have always tried to achieve.

We just wanted to make an album that harnessed the feeling of where we recorded it. We decided to get back to our roots and record with home audio equipment in a living room surrounded by nothing but open windows to capture the energy of each day in Malibu. For almost a month we woke up to  this special scenic outlook and just made what that feeling gave us, hoping that our fans would be able to hear what we were seeing.

See Surfaces when they play Electric Brixton in London on Wednesday 25th of August – tickets available with Gigantic on the link below.
